Are Plant-Based Cakes Healthy?

The word "healthy" is highly subjective because it can mean very different things to different people. For one person it could mean avoiding refined sugar, while another it can mean lower in overall calories. Plant-based cakes can generally be healthier IF they are made with high-quality, less processed ingredients such as whole nuts, seeds, unbleached flour, unrefined sugars, etc.

However, not all plant-based cakes are fortunate in that way. Most of the ones you find at the grocery store conveniently ready for purchase are full of filler ingredients and preservatives to ensure they remain shelf-stable or overall stay looking and tasting their best.
